The heat tansfer coefficient of a substance is the quantity of heat that passes in unit time through unit area of a plate of particular thickness when its opposite faces differ in temperature by one kelvin. As such, it is defined in terms of k/L where kis the thermal conductivity of the substance and L is the thickness of the plate. A good general value for the thermal conductivity for glass would be 1.1 W/m∙K, but different kinds of glass will differ somewhat from this value.

Acryilic "Glass" (aka Plexiglas) has a value of 0.17-0.19 W/m∙K

Fiberglass has a value of about 0.045 W/m∙K

Window glass is about 0.8 - 0.93 W/m∙K

Pure SiO2 has a value of 1.0 W/m∙K and 96% pure SiO2 can be 1.2-1.4 W/m∙K

Pyrex glass has a value of 1.005 W/m∙K

Quartz (single crystal) has a value of 12 W/m∙K parallell to the central crystal axis and 6.8 W/m∙K perpendicular to the crystal axis.

Vitreous or Fused silica is 1.46 - 3 W/m∙K
