Dis-connect the battery first. There should be a hole in the bottom of the steering column, underneath the lock. Just to clarify...on the 2001 the hole is in the top of the cylider barrel and the key will have to be turned to the first notch. If it is fully engaged, it will not release the cylinder. Remove the lower column cover first by removing the three screws that hold it the bottom cover in place.
