The fore and aft magnets in a magnetic compass help to reduce the oscillations of the compass card caused by the movement of the vessel. These magnets stabilize the compass card and improve its accuracy by minimizing the effects of the ship's motion on the reading.

Why cant light travel through objects?

There are some objects through which light can travel, others it cannot. Light is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum and each part has a certain energy level. The energy required to travel through an object varies with the make up of that substance. The property an object has for allowing the passage of electromagnetic radiation to pass is called its transparency. An object may not allow light to pass but allow x-rays to pass because x-rays have more energy than light. There fore human flesh, for instance, is opaque to light but transparent to x-rays. There are other things involved but this is a simplified explanation.

What happens when light reflects off of a rough surface?

Does electrical energy powers the sun?

No, the sun generates energy through nuclear fusion in its core, not through electrical energy. This process involves the fusion of hydrogen nuclei to form helium, releasing vast amounts of energy in the form of light and heat.

What colour is first light of dawn?

The color of the sunrise as seen by an average human observer on earth is a gradient from red to orange to yellow, etc... This is because the higher energy blue light that we normally see in the sky is all scattered away during the longer path the light takes to reach our eye at sunrise and sunset.

Why do a golfer have to say fore and not five?

It is "Fore", not "four", hence not "five" either. The "Fore" comes from the old use of "Fore-caddies" who were down the fairway looking for the golfers ball coming down the fairway from the tee. The golfer would yell "Fore" telling the "Fore-caddie" that the ball was on the way. Now, of course, "Fore" means "Watch out! Ball is coming your way."
