Fossil fuels are stores of chemical energy. The chemicals are various hydrocarbons.
The original source of the energy locked in these chemicals is Sunlight. The fuel formed from the remains of plankton that were buried beneath the Earth millions of years ago. Geothermal processes converted the remains of living creatures to the hydrocarbons that we now call fossil fuels. Fossils do not make energy. Fossils are usually from larger animals and plants, but the term fossil fuel is one of common usage.

∙ 6y agoFossil fuels contain chemical energy, which is released through oxidation (combustion, burning).
The energy is stored as hydrocarbon bonds, originally as carbohydrates in dead organic matter.

Renewable energy sources. Whereas resources that have a limited source are called fossil fuels.
Nuclear fission
Any dry or nearly dry vegetation can be used as biomass, link. Biomass can be made into fossil fuels such as ethanol and gasoline.
There are many sources of energy and they are actually categorized in to two groups; Renewable and Non Renewable.Renewable SourcesSolar EnergyWind EnergyHydroGeothermalBiomassFor Non Renewable:Fossil FuelsRadioactive Fuels
Coal and all types of fossil fuels.conventional sources mean that was traditionally known to people.
It is fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels contain energy that originally came from the sun.
Fossil fuels (hence the name) are natural fuels that come from decayed bodies (humus or fossils) in the earth.
Yes. It can be either coal as crude oil and gas. But you must not confuse them with geothermal energy and biomass.
Hydro-carbons is another name for fossil fuels.

Hydro-carbons is another name for fossil fuels.
There are three major forms of fossil fuels: coal, oil and natural gas. All three were formed many hundreds of millions of years ago before the time of the dinosaurs - hence the name fossil fuels. The age they were formed is called the Carboniferous Period. It was part of the Paleozoic Era. "Carboniferous" gets its name from carbon, the basic element in coal and other fossil fuels

Fossil fuels are non renewable source of energy. They are formed by the decomposition of wastes of plants and animals which were buried underneath the earth million years ago. ex: coal, oil, wood etc.
