False, magnification is negative, which means v/u is negative as well, assuming u is always positive, it means v is negative, which means the image is virtual.

add In any event, an image is not REAL - it is just an image. It may become a replica when it is recorded permanently on film etc. And of course it may be erect or inverted or reversed, or indeed a negative, but none of these are REAL.

Yes. A real image is formed when the light rays really cross one another after leaving a lens or mirror. And f they really cross one another then they will form an inverted image. That is actually what the negative sign in the magnification statement is telling you - that the image will be inverted.

So yes, a negative magnification corresponds to a real image.

What does negative sign if the value of magnification of a mirror indicate?

It means that the pre-image and image are on opposite sides of the centre of magnification.

What does a negative magnification correspond to?

The image is inverted and virtual.

A spherical mirror produces positive linear magnification What is the nature of the image?

The nature of the image that a spherical mirror produces positive magnification is usually enlarged when compared to the real object.

What do positive and negative sign of magnification indicate?

Positive would be more magnification, and negative would be less magnification. * * * * * No. M > 1 indicates that the image is bigger than the pre-image (and on the same side of the centre of magnification); 0 < M < 1 indicates that the image is smaller than the pre-image (and on the same side of the centre of magnification); -1 < M < 0 indicates that the image is smaller than the pre-image (and on the opposite side of the centre of magnification); M < -1 indicates that the image is larger than the pre-image (and on the opposite side of the centre of magnification). M = 0 means the image is point-sized and at the centre of magnification. M = 1 means the image coincides with the pre-image. M = -1 means that the image is the same size as the pre-image and on the opposite side.

The nature of the final image formed by a compound microscope?

The principle of image formation in a compound microscope states that the second lens magnifies the image formed by the first lens. The use of two lenses enhances the magnification of the image.

Why are today microscope called compound scopes?

Because the magnification of image = magnification of eyes piece * magnification of lens.

Magnification and resolution as they pertain to a microscope?

Magnification lets you see an image larger than it is. But resolution makes the image clearer when magnified.

The sharpness of an image produced by a microscope is called magnification.?

No. Magnification refers to how many times larger an image is made. The sharpness of an image produced by a microscope is called resolution.

What is meant by magnification is greater than 1?

its nothing it means that the type of mirror you are using is canvex that forms a virtual image and has a power in negative . i think you got it now !
