The "standard" unit of acceleration is known as the SI (Système International) unit. This is measured in meters per square second (m/s^2). In CGS (centimeter-gram-second) units, all meters are multiplied by 100 (100 centimeters per meter), all kilograms are multiplied by 1000 (1000 grams per kilogram) and all seconds stay the same.

So 1 m/s^2 = 100 cm/ s^2
