"Coulomb's Law" (postulated by scientist Charles Augustin de Coulomb) states that there is an inverse-square distance relationship for the strength of attractive or repulsive forces.

The force of attraction or repulsion between two point charges is directly proportional to the product of magnitude of each charge and indirectly proportional to the square of distance between them.
