Chernobyl was an everyday town. It wasn't a facinating place and was pretty normal. There was a few tall buildings, some attractions (Like a ferris wheel) and nice landscapes.
In normal operation, virtually none. In a bad accident like Chernobyl, a great deal. Fortunately only one Chernobyl type disaster has ever happened.
