Eastern Electricity was created in 1948.
Electricity created by friction is known as "static electricity."
All the electricity you use has been created by humans. Electricity is energy which results from the behaviour of charged particles: electrons and protons. Electricity, as in electric current, can be created by man using machines such as generators to power tools and devices which are operated by electric power. Electricity can also occur naturally, and has done so since before humans were around to work out how to use it; lightning and static (frictional) electricity are examples.
Initially, people were apprehensive about electricity due to safety concerns and lack of understanding. However, with advancements in technology and increased access to electricity, it became widely accepted for its convenience and benefits in powering various appliances and improving living standards.
This static electricity makes my hair stand on end!
The concept of electricity has been known since ancient times, but the first documented experiments with electricity were conducted by Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century. However, it is important to note that electricity exists naturally in the environment, and humans did not create it.
The Eastern Electricity Board was formed in 1948 after the Electricity Act of 1947 was passed. In 1990 it became the Eastern Electricity plc following the Electricity Act of 1989. The company then passed through the Hanson plc, followed by TXU Europe, and was finally sold on to EDF Energy.
