Well, we know that velocity describes the speed and direction of motion,

so you can't change either of those.

We don't usually think of 'position' as a characteristic of motion, but if we try

hard to please you, then we might observe that the position changes while

velocity remains constant.

If the speed or direction of motion changes, then the velocity changes.

Change in position (location) doesn't need to change the velocity.

Is changing direction really the same as changing speed?

No. It is possible to change direction without changing speed. However, it is not possible to change direction without changing velocity.

Why is acceleration zero with uniform velocity?

Uniform velocity means the velocity is not changing. Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity. If velocity isn't changing, the rate of change is zero.

What is the difference between acceleration and velocity?

-- 'Velocity' is the rate at which position is changing, and the direction of the change. -- 'Acceleration' is the rate at which velocity is changing, and the direction of the change.

Can a change in velocity always indicate a change in speed?

Velocity has direction as well as magnitude. Speed only has magnitude. So the velocity of something can change without its speed changing. This is what is happening when something is going in a circle.

How can you change only one component of the velocity without changing the speed?

Reverse the direction of the component.

Traveling without changing speed?

When you (or an object) travel without changing speed, then you have constant velocity (speed). This means there is no change in speed (acceleration) when you (or an object) is traveling.

How can velocity change without changing the speed?

Consider velocity as consisting of a speed, and a direction. If any of the two changes - that is, if either the speed or the direction changes - then the velocity changes.

The process of changing velocity?

The process of velocity change is called acceleration.

Can the velocity of a body be constant still varying its speed?

Yes. Velocity is rate (or speed) in a given direction. If you change your direction but not your rate (or speed) then you have changed your velocity without changing speed.

You are driving north on a highway Then without changing speed you round a curve and drive east Does your velocity change?

Yes it does. In physics, the term velocity means both speed and direction of motion, not just speed, so if you change direction you change velocity.

What control on a car can cause a change in velocity at constant speed?

The steering wheel can change the car's direction of motion, without changing speed.

When you change speed and direction you are changing what?

velocity
