The purpose of an ammeter is to sense and display the magnitude of the current flowing through it. Your question is confused. A galvanometer is an instrument, it is not hooked to an instrument. It is hooked to an electrical circuit of some kind, to measure how much electricity is flowing.
The current measured at any point in a simple circuit will be the same because current is the measure of electron flow through a circuit. The current flowing through any branch of any circuit (or an entire simple circuit) will always be the same at any point.
You know if current is flowing in a bulb circuit because, if there is enough power (voltage times current), the bulb will illuminate. If there is current, but not enough power to illuminate the bulb, you will need to measure the current with an ammeter to see if there is any current.
