sound is better traveled in air. the waves travel further because of no barriers how ever if you try and put it through metal it will get particially or completely bounced back to the source (depending on how thick the metal is!)

Did sound travel better through metal railing or through air if a metal rod is hit against it?

Sound would travel better through the metal railing because metal is a better conductor of sound than air. When the metal rod hits the railing, the vibrations are quickly transmitted through the metal and carry the sound along with it.

Is air the best conductor for sound?

No, air is not the best conductor for sound. Solids, such as metal or water, are better conductors of sound because sound waves travel more efficiently through these denser mediums. Air is a less dense medium and can dampen the transmission of sound waves.

Is air a conduction?

Air is a good conductor of sound, and a poor conductor of heat and electric current.

Is rock a good conductor of sound?

Probably. It depends on the crystal structure of the dominant mineral. A pourous rock, such as honeycomb rock in Jamaica, will not be a good conductor of sound. A dense rock, like granite, will conduct sound better.

Which is a better conductor of heat air or a copper wire?

A copper wire is a much better conductor of heat than air is.

Is a fork a sound conductor or a insulator?

A fork is considered an insulator because it does not readily conduct sound. Sound waves need a medium, such as air, to travel through, and metal objects like forks do not allow sound waves to easily pass through them.

What is the correct descending order for the media through which sound travels with the most efficient conductor of sound listed first?

Solid (such as metal) Liquid (such as water) Gas (such as air)

Is glass or air a better conductor?

Glass is a better conductor of heat compared to air because it has a higher thermal conductivity. Air is a poor conductor of heat due to its low density and lower thermal conductivity.

What needed for a sound to be heard?

A conductor of sound (e.g. - air, water). Also, a receiver of sound (e.g. - an ear)

Is air or metal is a better insulator?

Air

How do you make sound on little alchemy?

Metal + wind = sound

Why does a tin can transmit sound better than air?

A tin can transmits sound better than air because it is a denser medium, allowing sound waves to travel more efficiently through it. The metal walls of the tin can reflect and amplify the sound waves, resulting in a louder and clearer transmission of sound compared to air.
