Well, honey, the light that does not come through a colored filter is the one that matches the color of the filter. So if you slap on a red filter, the red light is gonna be like "nah, I'm good" and stay put. It's like trying to wear a red shirt through a red filter - not gonna see much of a difference, darling.

What happens to light when it passes through a red filter?

After pure, white light passes through a red filter, all the other colors in the spectrum will flow out of the other side. My mistake, I had a faulty source. A red light filter will cause the image to appear as different shades of red. Since it is a red filter only red light can pass through. So you finish up with red light. Whether it is focussed to an image or not is of no consequence. As to different shades of red, you will get the shade of red that is passed by the filter.

What colour comes through when a red light passes through a blue filter?

Nothing comes through. A red light emits no blue light, and a blue filter allows only blue light to pass ... that's why when you look at it, you say to yourself "Hey! That filter looks blue. I'll call it a 'blue filter'."

What happens to the colours of light when they are passed through a red filter?

The reason that particular device is called a "redfilter" is that only red light cansurvive the trip through it and come out the other side, so that it appears red.Any other color of light is absorbed in the material that the filter is made of, andnever comes out.

What color do you see looking through a yellow filter at a blue light?

The reason the filter appears yellow and is called a "yellow filter" is that only yellow light survives the trip through the filter and lives to emerge from the other side. If you don't hit it with yellow light, nothing comes out. If the light hitting the filter is pure blue and nothing else, you'll see no light come out, i.e. black.

Is it true that if two polarizing filters are placed so that one is rotated 90 degrees from the other all light can come through?

No, if two polarizing filters are placed with one rotated 90 degrees from the other, no light will pass through as the filters are blocking perpendicular polarizations of light. In this orientation, the second filter blocks all light that made it through the first filter.

I look at a lamp through a green filter. The lamp gives out white light but I see green why is this possible?

White light is actually composed of red, green, and blue in approximately equal proportions. A green filter allows the green light to pass through it, while absorbing red and blue wavelengths. Hence you seen green. You'll also notice that the intensity of the light is reduced when viewed through the filter because of the abroption of the other colors.

Can the air filter cause the engine light to come on?

Yes.

When change oil light come on and off on and off?

Change your oil/filter and reset the light.

Why does a white shirt look red when using a red filter?

-- A white shirt is called "white" because any light that hits it, no matter what color, bounces off of it.-- A red filter is called "red" because any light that hits it is absorbed and dies in thefilter, EXCEPT red light, which survives to come out the other side.-- So if there is any red in the light arriving at the filter, then the light that comes out is red.(And if there is no red in the light arriving at the filter, then no light comes out of it at all.)-- Therefore, we can be sure that light shining on the shirt ... if it has been through the filter ...is red light.-- The shirt reflects any light that hits it, so the light that proceeds from the shirt to your eyesis red light.

Why does your check engine light come on when you change the air filter to a open air filter?

it is probably throwing off a sensor, like the mass airflow or map sensor and causing the check engine light to come on

Will a bad cabin air filter cause the check engine light to come on?

No

Why does the low engine oil light come on when the engine oil is filled and then the light goes off after ten seconds?

you need to reset the oil life through the radio, that will eliminate the light on the dash, until your next oil change is due Weak oil pump or incorrect size or defective filter. Change the oil filter and replace with the proper AC/Delco filter.
