Nobody invented the microwave oven in 1903. It was a direct result of war-time research in the 1940s into that newfangled long distance locating device called RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) used to locate aircraft.
The story goes like this: An engineer named Spencer was working for the Raytheon Corporation in the 1940s and happened to have a chocolate bar sitting on the desk near a test set up of a magnetron tube (used in radar equipment -- they produce the shortwave radiation between 1 mm an 30cm necessary in the equipment). He picked it up to eat it, and it was all soft and melted within the wrapping.
Back in those days, chocolate was wrapped in waxed paper and then in a paper outer sleeve. Our modern bars, often wrapped in foil might have prevented the radiation from affecting the chocolate bar and this discovery would have gone unnoticed for years.
He put two and two together and figured out that the radiation from the tube was responsible. Ten years later they had the first commercial oven ready to sell (c1955). It wasn't until 1967 that regular consumers could buy one for the home. They were quite expensive, but since then, things like lump-free white sauce and popcorn have never been the same.
Percy Spencer was in his 40s when he invented the microwave oven in 1945. He was born on July 9, 1894, and invented the microwave while working for Raytheon.
Dr. Percy Spencer invented the microwave in 1945. He noticed that a candy bar in his pocket had melted after standing in front of a magnetron, leading to the development of the microwave oven.
In 1903, the first successful powered airplane, the Wright Flyer, was invented by the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright. This invention marked a significant milestone in aviation history and paved the way for modern air travel.
because we live in a world where people don't have time to eat breakfast so that they wont have to go to work on an empty stomach and they want to eat something that's quick and it takes less time to fix like a waffle a pancake and that's why Percy La Baron Spencer invented the microwave
Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the first powered airplane.
