∙ 13y agoWith a series circuit when the switch is on, everything is on. When the switch is off or the circuit is broken by a broken light bulb then the whole circuit is off.

In a parallel circuit each parallel branch can have its own switch. If one light bulb is broken it does not mean that any other part of the circuit will stop functioning.
