rest and motion are indeed relative terms

take for example, you are standing on a platform and see a train speeding past you. the train is definitely in motion with respect to you.

now, think of a passenger in the same train..to the passenger the train in at rest but he sees the platform speeding past him, meaning you appear to be in motion with respect to him...

this concept is very much relative, as the earth like all the other planets including the sun are actually moving. so though the computer in front of you may seem to be at rest with respect to you, it is actually in motion if someone from the moon or some other planet sees it...:-)

Prove that rest and motion are relative terms?

Actually sitting on the earth we feel as if we are at rest. But relative to the pole star we are moving along a circular path. Also relative to the sun we are moving along an elliptical path around the sun. So actually speaking we are not at rest. In the same nothing is stationary. Everything is in motion. Rest means only a relative term.

Are rest and motion relative terms or opposite term?

Rest and motion are relative terms, meaning that whether an object is considered at rest or in motion depends on the frame of reference being used to observe it. In one frame of reference, an object may be at rest, while in another frame of reference it may be in motion. So, rather than being opposite terms, they are actually interrelated.

Have you ever experienced that the train in which you are sitting appears to move while you are at rest?

yes, a train in which you are sitting appears to move while it is at rest, because of relative term as motion & rest are relative term . Actually it is depend upon observer. Example- If a boy sitting in train, when he see a man moving outside the train, it seems to him that it is in motion.

Why motion is a relative term?

Motion is relative because it is always defined relative to a reference point or frame of reference. An object's motion may appear different depending on the observer's perspective or frame of reference, making it a relative term. This is described by the concept of relative motion in physics.

What term is defined as the ability of an object at rest to stay at rest and an object in motion to stay in motion?

That term is inertia. Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist changes in its velocity, either maintaining its current state of motion or remaining at rest.

What is a Physics term regarding movement or rest?

Inertia is a physics term that describes an object's resistance to change in its state of motion, whether that be at rest or already in motion. Objects at rest tend to stay at rest, while objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force.
