There is area limitation of potential wind energy site. If the wind speed is lower than 7 m/s the cost of running would not be too good. It could provide substantial portion of energy but wind energy alone is not sufficient for our size of population.

Do wind turbines depend on energy from the sun?

Yes, wind turbines rely on energy from the sun to create wind. This is because the sun's heat creates temperature differences in the Earth's atmosphere, leading to air movement which generates wind that drives the turbines.

Why do people rely on wind?

People rely on wind as a renewable energy source for generating electricity. Wind is abundant and can be harnessed using wind turbines to produce clean energy without emitting greenhouse gases. Additionally, wind power can help reduce dependence on finite fossil fuels and mitigate climate change.

What happens to windmills when there is no wind?

Windmills do not operate without wind. When there is no wind, windmills are unable to generate electricity or perform their intended function. They rely on the kinetic energy from the wind to turn the blades and produce power.

How is the wind energy gathered and or created?

Wind energy is gathered by using wind turbines, which have blades that rotate and capture the kinetic energy of the wind. The spinning blades turn a shaft, which connects to a generator to produce electricity. Wind energy is created by the movement of air masses on Earth's surface, generated by the uneven heating of the Earth by the sun.

What is the biggest problem with windmills?

The biggest problem with windmills is their intermittent nature, as wind energy production can fluctuate depending on weather conditions. This makes it difficult to rely solely on wind power for consistent energy generation.

How is the rooftop wind turbine different from other wind energy devices?

The rooftop wind turbine is different from other wind energy devices in that it relies on a small motor in addition to wind power, whereas other devices rely only on wind power.

Does wind energy use traditional fossil fuels?

No, wind energy does not rely on traditional fossil fuels to generate electricity. Wind turbines harness the power of the wind to produce renewable energy without the need for fossil fuels. This makes wind energy a clean and sustainable alternative to traditional sources of power.

Are only living things associated with energy?

No, non-living things are also associated with energy. Energy exists in various forms in the environment, such as in sunlight, wind, and heat. Living organisms rely on this energy to sustain life processes.

Why is the wind an energy source with limited uses?

A disadvantage of wind energy is that only a few places on Earth have enough wind to meet our energy needs.

Is wind energy cheap or expensive?

wind energy is only air but wind mills and wind turbins are about 5m to 10m dollars... so yes they are expensive.

What contains only inexhaustible energy resources?

Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydropower, and geothermal energy contain inexhaustible energy resources. These sources rely on natural processes that are constantly replenished, making them sustainable and renewable in the long term.
