The density of ice is lower than the density of water; consequently ice float on water.

=================================================

When the temperature of water falls right from room temperature ie 20 deg, its density increases. This increase in density happens till the temperature reaches 4 deg. If the temperature falls below 4 deg, then density starts decreasing instead increasing. This is what we call anomalous expansion of water. So 2 deg celcius water would float over 4 deg celcius water. The same case with ice as ice has less density compared to that of water.

Why did my fish sink when it died and not float to the surface like other fish?

When a fish dies, its body becomes heavier due to the gases produced during decomposition. This causes the fish to sink to the bottom of the water instead of floating to the surface like live fish.

If the density of an object is 1 then will that object sink or float?

If the density of an object is 1, it will neither sink nor float in water. When the density of an object is equal to the density of the fluid it is placed in, it will be neutrally buoyant and will remain suspended in the fluid at the same level.
