Nuclear power does not contribute to global warming!

However nuclear power generated in the Earth' core warms the planet. The thermal energy generated in the core from nuclear fission keeps the planet warmer than the solar black-body radiation balance.

They do not burn carbon based fuels like coal or natural gas. The fuel they "burn" is Uranium-235 and most of its waste products are either solids or gasses that can't escape because the fuel pellets are sealed as they don't require anything from the atmosphere to "burn". Many, but not all, of these waste products decay within a few weeks to harmless materials.

Do nuclear power plants heat up the planet?

Any power plant causes heat to be produced when the electricity is used, but nuclear plants don't produce greenhouse gases as fossil fuels do

What are three advantages of nuclear power plants compared with power plants that burn fossil fuels?

Nuclear power plants don't emit greenhouse gases, need little fuel to generate a lot of power, and can produce electricity continuously.

What are the good effects of nuclear power plant?

It provides lots of power while producing no greenhouse gases.

What are some advantages of nuclear power as a source of energy?

Nuclear power does not release greenhouse gases or other atmospheric pollutants (barring a melt-down), unlike power plants that burn fossil fuels (coal, oil, or natural gas). Unlike solar power, nuclear power is independent of the weather conditions. Unlike hydroelectric power, nuclear power can be installed anywhere.

Nuclear energy a boon or a bane?

Nuclear energy has both advantages and disadvantages, therefore I would say that it is a bit of both; we could describe it as a mixed blessing. From an environmental perspective, nuclear energy could be a major tool in combatting global warming, because it does not emit greenhouse gases, and therefore it can replace other energy sources such as coal burning power plants that do emit greenhouse gases. However, there are other energy sources such as solar power which are even more environmentally sound, so in the end, we may phase out nuclear power, if we can get our act together. Nuclear waste, and the potential for catastrophic nuclear accidents, remain real concerns.

How many less tons of greenhouse gases are emitted from nuclear power plants?

Nuclear power plants emit no greenhouse gases at all.

which type of power production produces the least amount of greenhouse gases?

nuclear

Would nuclear power effect global warming?

No, because it does not emit greenhouse gases

Why wont a nuclear power plant have an effect on global warming?

Because it does not produce greenhouse gases

How does the greenhouse effect tie in with the nuclear verses coal burning power plant issue?

Two greenhouse gases, CO2 and H2O, are the natural byproducts of combustion. Enormous quantities of both are produced when fossil fuels are burned to generate electrical power. Power generated from nuclear plants, however, produces relatively little.

What precautions should be taken by thermal power plants to minimise global warming?

Thermal power plants release greenhouse gases. They should treat the gases before releasing.

Is there power plants that don't give off harmful gases?

Sure. Nuclear power plants give off effectively no gases of any kind.

Does nuclear energy release greenhouse effects?

Yes.Most power plants burn fossil fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) to generate electricity and so contribute to global warming.Burning of these fuels releases long-hidden carbon dioxide (CO2) which adds to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The natural carbon cycle and the natural greenhouse effect are being overwhelmed by this extra gas. The carbon cycle can only distribute about half of it. The greenhouse effect has become an accelerated greenhouse effect, warming the planet.Power plants like nuclear, hydro, solar, wind, wave, tidal, and geothermal do not release CO2. Biofuel plants release CO2, but as it was only captured during the growing season of the fuel, it is part of the carbon cycle, so it is carbon neutral. None of these renewable energy power plants contribute to global warming.
