They make good mirrors because unlike plastic it isrigid and plastic gets scratched easily, but the matal doesn't.

Not all smooth surfaces reflect it depends on material. If surface reflects it does it better when the surface is flat because light is not scattered on the surface.

No. How well a suction cup sticks to a surface has to do with how will a seal can be formed on the surface. Rough surfaces will not form good seals compared to smooth surfaces which means that suction cups will not stick as well to rough surfaces as they do to smooth surfaces.

Yes, Sumerians did have mirrors, but I'm not sure if they were like the ones we use today. The metalworkers made cups, mirrors, jewelry, &c., and were pretty good at it. The mirrors were probably made of brass or something like it, but I'm not sure if the metal was the mirror or if they used glass. I'm sure they used silver and had the reflective stuff like we do today, so it's likely they had mirrors that were just less reflective.

You can glue most metals to rock surfaces. Make sure the rock is clean and free of dust, then use a good epoxy to attach your metal, support it till it sets.
