As one increases in altitude pressure decreases. The pressure in your ears is then higher than the pressure of the air so one feels tension in their ears.

Why do our ears pop and what causes this sensation?

Our ears pop when there is a change in air pressure, such as when we go up or down in an elevator or airplane. This happens because the air pressure inside our ears needs to equalize with the air pressure outside. The popping sensation is caused by the Eustachian tube opening and allowing air to flow in or out of the middle ear, balancing the pressure.

How does flying an airplane affect hearing?

Flying an airplane can lead to changes in air pressure, which may affect the ears by causing discomfort or temporary hearing loss. This can occur during takeoff and landing, as the pressure in the cabin changes rapidly. Pilots and passengers may experience ear popping or feeling like their ears are plugged due to the pressure changes. Long-term exposure to loud noise in the airplane cabin can also contribute to hearing loss over time.

Why do we experience pain in our ears as you go up in a high place?

The pain in our ears due to elevation change is caused by unequal pressure inside our bodies and the air pressure outside. As you go higher in elevation air pressure drops, so the pressure inside our bodies is higher that the outside environment. This high pressure inside our bodies causes pain as our bodies seek to regain equal air pressure with that of the environment by releasing air out of our ears; that is also why many people experience popping ears as they undergo dramatic elevation changes.

How high do you need to go for your ears to pop?

don't technically have to change height it's due to pressure variation, which can occur to things such as a cold or head phones

What does pressure do as you go deeper in water?

As you go deeper in water, the pressure increases due to the weight of the water above pressing down on you. This increase in pressure can compress air spaces in your body, such as your lungs and ears. It is important to equalize the pressure to avoid discomfort or injury, especially when scuba diving or free diving to great depths.

Why a persons ears may pop as they go up in an airplane?

Air pressure outside the body decreases, pressure inside the ear presses out on the eardrums. The "Popping" sensation is pressure equalizing through the Eustachian tubes.

How does air temperature change with altiltude?

Yes. The higher you go the lower the pressure is and the lower you go the higher the pressure is. That's why your ears feel like popping in a plane or in a vally and things like that.

Why do your ears pop when you go up or down a hill?

It has to do with air pressure. Whenever there is a big difference between the air pressure inside your ears and outside your ears the ear drum expands or contracts to try to even out the pressure. This causes popping.

How long do ears stay clogged if you have a sinus infection and go on a plane?

The time in which an individual's ears could feel clogged after being on an airplane in conjunction with having a sinus infection can vary depending upon the severity of the sinus infection as well as the altitude and duration of the flight. If the ears do not feel like they have 'popped' with 2-3 days, one should go to see their primary care physician as an antibiotic may be needed to treat the sinus infection to allow drainage.

Why do your ears hurt under the water?

Because as you dive down your eardrum is being stretched by the external pressure. If, when you first feel the discomfort, you hold your nose and blow out your ears, the pain will go way as you will then have equalized the pressures across the eardrum. SCUBA divers have to learn how to do this.

How girl feel holding pee?

They feel pressure in the bladder, like they have to go. when a girl has to pee really bad she starts to feel pressure in the lower abdomen.

Your ears go weird when you yawn?

When you yawn, the muscles in your inner ear, called the tensor tympani and stapedius, contract. This can affect the pressure in your middle ear, causing a temporary change in how you perceive sound. This is why your ears might feel like they "pop" or sound muffled during a yawn.

What could be the couse of feeling some pressure behind the eyes or ears that makes you feel as when you are exhausted?

It could be dry eye. Both my eyes feel tired and as if they have a pressure from behind the eye and sometimes above. It makes me want to close my eyes all the time, even when I'm not tired. You can buy eye drops or artificial tears for this condition from the chemist. It helps relieve the symptoms, but this cannot be cured.

Why do my ears hurt when i go up in an airplane?

That is unusual, your ears usually hurt on the decent of the airplane. The reason is that your Ear has 3 chambers, the Outer Ear (where the hole into your head is), the Middle Ear (an air filled chamber behind the eardrum) and the Inner Ear (which is where the fluid filled hearing organ is, embedded in the bone of your skull). The Middle Ear is connected to the back of your throat by a tube called the Eustachian tube.As the Middle Ear is filled with air and is sealed from the outside by the Ear Drum, when the outside air pressure changes the pressure of the air in the Middle Ear must change to match the pressure outside or the Ear Drum over stretches (this is what hurts). The pressure equalization is made though the Eustachian tube and while, normally it is easy for gas to get OUT of the ear as the outside pressure falls (as you go UP in a plane or an elevator), it is more difficult to get air IN to the ear because the end of the tube where it meets your throat is "floppy". This means that your ears are more likely to hurt you when the outside air pressure increases (as you come DOWN in a plane or elevator). To overcome the pain, as soon as you feel uncomfortable in your ears, you should perform the Valsalva manoeuvre, a moderately forceful attempt to exhale against a closed airway, usually done by closing one's mouth, pinching one's nose shut while pressing out as if blowing up a balloon (holding you nose and blowing out your ears). Some people can also yawn to do this.
