You go faster down a steeper incline because gravity pulls you downhill with a greater force, which increases your acceleration. This acceleration leads to higher speed due to the relationship between acceleration and velocity.

Gravity draws an object towards its strongest point. The main things holding you back are air resistance and friction. As a hill gets steeper, you are more in line with the center of gravity, so it overcomes friction and you move faster. Eventually when you are moving vertically there is no friction other than air resistance itself. At this time you will accelerate at 32 feet per second every second until you either hit something or reach terminal velocity which is around 120 mph. Air resistance (on the Earth at least) will not allow you to travel any faster.

  • The acceleration decreases because then net resultant force decreases.
  • F=ma
  • This is due to an increase in air resistance at higher speeds

Because gravity is trying to pull it down hill...on flat ground gravity isn't pulling it either direction.

the temperature decreases the higher up you go up as the sun is heating the flat surface the earth (sea level) and the further away you get from a hot or warm thing the colder you get

Why does gravity make you go down a slide?

Gravity is a force that pulls objects toward the center of the Earth. When you go down a slide, gravity pulls you downwards, causing you to slide along the incline. The steeper the slide, the faster you accelerate due to the gravitational force acting on you.

A cart is rolling down a ramp if the angle of the ramp is increased to make the ramp steeper the cart will do what?

If the angle of the ramp is increased to make it steeper, the cart will accelerate more quickly down the ramp due to the increased gravitational force acting on it. The steeper ramp will result in a greater component of the gravitational force pulling the cart downhill, causing it to move faster.

Why does the higher the ramp affect the speed of a car?

A higher ramp increases the gravitational potential energy of the car as it gains height, which is converted to kinetic energy as the car rolls down the ramp. This conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy results in the car moving faster as it descends the ramp. Additionally, the steeper incline of a higher ramp provides a greater gravitational force acting on the car, accelerating it faster.

How does ramp angle affect speed?

Increasing ramp angle generally decreases speed as it requires more effort to overcome the incline. A steeper ramp angle increases the resistance against forward motion, resulting in a slower speed. Conversely, a flatter ramp angle allows for easier movement and a faster speed.

What makes a toy car go slow down a ramp?

A toy car will go slow down a ramp due to gravity, which pulls the car downwards. Other factors like friction with the ramp and air resistance may also contribute to the slower speed. The steeper the ramp, the faster the car will go due to gravity pulling it more strongly.

Does a car go faster going down bigger slopes?

If the angle of incline or distance is greater yes.

Why does a car go faster if a ramp is steeper?

It will go faster because if you have a small/non-steep ramp the car will go slow and the ending point wont be that far, but if you have a ramp that is bigger/steeper the car will go faster and the ending point will be far.

How do you make a club car go faster?

get a steeper hill

Does the surface of a hill effect how fast a ball will roll down it?

Yes, the surface of a hill can affect how fast a ball will roll down it. A smoother surface will have less friction, allowing the ball to roll faster, while a rougher surface will create more friction and slow the ball down. Additionally, the incline of the hill will also impact the speed of the ball as steeper hills will cause the ball to accelerate more quickly.

Why do skateboards go faster on a inclined plane?

Skateboard goes faster because it is on the incline not the flat ground

What happens to toy cars when the second hill is set to 100 cm?

When toy cars go down a steep hill they pick up momentum. Which makes them go faster so a car on a steeper hill will go faster then one on a flat surface.

Do you go faster on a quad bike if you are heavier?

not necessarily. depends what type of terrain you are on. or what incline
