Glasswares are wrapped with paper before autoclave. After autoclave the glassware is taken to laminar flow hood in sterilized conditions where it is unwrapped. So wrapping is done to avoide contamination during taking the glassware from autocalave to laminar flow hood.

Why is a piece of paper wrapped tightly on a wooden rod gets heated quickly than a similar piece of paper wrapped over brass and held over a flame?

The Brass Rod can conduct more heat away from the paper than the Wooden Rod can in a given amount of time. So, by conducting more heat away, it keeps the paper below its ignition temperature for a longer period of time.

Why was the wire - wrapped nail able to pick up the paper clips?

The wire-wrapped nail was able to pick up the paper clips because the wire acts as a magnet when an electric current flows through it, creating a magnetic field that attracts the paper clips. This is an example of how electromagnetism can be used to manipulate magnetic objects.

How are the screw and the wrapped pencil alike?

Both the screw and the wrapped pencil are cylindrical objects that involve twisting action. The screw requires rotation to drive it into a surface, while wrapping a pencil around a piece of paper involves twisting the pencil around the paper's surface. Both actions are facilitated by the cylindrical shape and rotational movement of these objects.

What important discovery did Becquerel make upon examining a piece of pitchblende wrapped up in paper?

Becquerel discovered radioactivity while examining a piece of pitchblende wrapped in paper. He observed that the uranium-containing mineral emitted its own energy without an external source triggering it, leading to the groundbreaking discovery of natural radioactivity.

Why a piece of paper wrapped around an alluminium pipe does not catch fire easily?

The paper acts as an insulator, reducing direct contact between the flame and the aluminum pipe. Aluminum has a high melting point, so it does not combust easily. The limited oxygen supply due to the paper wrapping also hinders the combustion process.
