It was vital for the development of science as an analytical subject because Newton showed on a new level how mathematical analysis could be used to explain natural phenomena - in detail. This showed the way for subsequent scientists, leading ultimately to new branches of physics and the benefits we enjoy in modern times.

Newton's major achievement in the history of scientific thought was to take Kepler's newly discovered laws of planetary motion which stated that the planets move in elliptical orbits. Newton explained theoretically that the planets must move in elliptical orbits if they are under the force of gravity that follows the new theory that Newton developed for gravity - mainly that it follows an inverse-square law with changing distance.

To achieve this Newton had to establish laws of motion as well as the law of gravity, and on top of that he had to develop what is now called differential calculus to show that the planet's path is curved by exactly the right amount at any instant determined by the force of gravity acting on it.

For these reasons Isaac newton is usually considered the leading phyicist of all time.

What is the measure of the pull of gravity on an object called?

Newtons (N) It was first thought of by sir issac newton > The force acts equally on both objects, and is rated in newtons.

Why is weight measured in Newtons and kilograms?

Weight is measured in Newtons because it is a force. When an object is in a gravitational field, it experiences a force due to gravity, which is what we refer to as weight. Kilograms, on the other hand, are a measure of mass, which is an intrinsic property of an object and measures the amount of matter it contains. While weight and mass are related, they are not the same thing, hence the need for separate units of measurement.

Did Issac newton stick to one type of science?

No, Isaac Newton is considered a polymath, meaning he excelled in multiple fields of study. While he is most famous for his work in physics and mathematics, he also made significant contributions to astronomy, alchemy, and optics.

Who translated sir Issac newton's works from Latin to french?

The translation of Sir Isaac Newton's works from Latin to French was done by the French mathematician François Jacquier. He translated Newton's seminal work "Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica" (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy) into French in the 18th century.

What is the meaning of newton in science terms?

Newton measures the absolute unit of force in the International System of Units. It is the force that has to be applied to move one kg of mass at the speed of one meter per second. Newton was named after Sir Issac Newton based on the second law of motion.
