Friction is the force exerted on a body when the body pushes against the microscopic obstacles in its path. Therefore , it is basically a reaction to the force exerted by the body.It comes into play when a body moves on a surface which is

not completely even ,even at the microscopic level.

Another difference is that the friction force is constant beyond a threshold for a given homogeneous surface, even if we increase speed of the body.

Friction is essential for our movement and to keep in place things such as a knot.

The resisting force employed usually by the resisting obstacles is the electromagnetic force.

Frictional force is the force between two objects in contact but not moving in the same direction. An example is the friction between a road surface and a tire. The force is in the direction opposite to the net direction of the objects. Shear force is a force acting at an angle to an object. An example would be a cable tied around a tree and its other end attached to a pickup truck. The force on the tree caused when Bubba floors the gas is a shear force.

How does friction differ from other forces?

Friction produces heat. The other forces produce motion or stress.

What is different between static friction and kinetic friction?

Between any two body surfaces in contact there acts an frictional force. A friction can operate between a given pair of solids, between a solid and fluid or between a pair of fluids. There are two types of frictional forces : kinetic and static friction. When two bodies in contact move with respect to each other , rubbing the surfaces in contact the friction between them is called kinetic friction. The directions of frictional forces are such that it opposes the relative motion. Friction forces can also act between two bodies which are in contact but not moving or sliding with respect to each other. The friction in such case is static friction.

What are some other forces that affect a ball?

gravity friction inertia

Force that prevents two forces in contact from sliding past each other?

The force that prevents two forces in contact from sliding past each other is friction. Friction has the ability to keep things from moving.

How do you that forces are balanced when static friction acts on an object?

The other force being applied, opposing to the object's static friction would both be equal therefore the forces are balancing.

What are the all different types of forces?

Gravity, Friction, Air resistance, Turning, Moments, pressure, upthrust, balanced forces, unbalanced forces. there are some of the forces that are well known.

Why did Ottoman Empire join world war 1?

Ottoman Empire joined World War 1 so as to join forces with the Germany. The other reason was the friction with the friction with Turkey.

What is the metric unit for friction?

A friction is a force, so it would be measured in newtons. The coefficient of friction, on the other hand, is a ratio between two forces, so it is dimensionless.

What are the forces of gravity and friction?

They are forces of nature..
