Why we don't think in the future?

The future doesn't exist yet. When it does exist, it will become the present. Time marches on. We think in the present because we exist in the present.

Alternatively, it can be argued that we do think in the future, and that we're possibly the only species we know of that does so. Behavioral experiments show that nearly all species can take actions depending on the present situation, and many can remember what happened in the past and use that as a guide to present actions, but contemplating what might happen in the future and using that to determine what to do in the present is, as far as we can tell, a uniquely human ability.

It is certainly the case that human beings think aboutthe future; whether that could be described as thinking inthe future is doubtful. However if you were to say, my thoughts are in the future, that would be understood to mean that you are thinking about the future, metaphorically speaking. It is still true that since human beings exist in the present, they therefore think in the present.

Our brains are generally wired to focus on the present moment to ensure our immediate needs and survival. Thinking about the future requires mental effort and cognitive processes that may not come naturally to everyone. Additionally, factors like uncertainty, fear of the unknown, and the presence of more immediate concerns can also inhibit future thinking.
