To grow one apple tree, you only need to plant one apple seed. However, it's important to note that apple trees grown from seeds may not produce fruit identical to the parent tree, and it can take several years for them to bear fruit. Many commercial orchards prefer to propagate apple trees through grafting to ensure desirable traits and quicker fruit production.

Yes. The variety of fruit must be propogated by vegative means i.e. grafting, budding or cuttings. A seedling is a wild card that may produce any kind of aple , good or bad. A totally different species of apple will not likely happen. There are many kinds of apples that can be mixed. The bee fly from one tree to another tree and does not make sure it only moves between same kind of trees. If the flower is "fertilized" with pollen from a different kind of apple, then the seeds from the apple growing from this flower will be the seeds of a mixed variety. It works the same way in animals, a good example is rabbits, cats and dogs. Granny Smith apple trees can most likely be mixed with Golden Delicious apple trees and the resulting seed will make a "new" kind of apple trees. The same way a Chow Chow dog can be mixed with Dalmatian to create a... Dalmatian with a blue toung (or whatever the genes say will happen. Maybe the toung will be spotted blue or the fur would be Chow Chow and spotted like dalmation.) Apples will still be apples and dogs will still be dogs though.
