A Venus flytrap digests its prey by secreting enzymes that break down the trapped insect's body into nutrients, which are then absorbed by the plant for energy and growth.
The Venus Flytrap has what are called 'traps' or 'mouths' on stems in which are used to catch and digest prey.
A Venus Flytrap's jaw like "flower" closes once it catches prey. The insect or fly will act similar to a stomach and digest the fly or other insect prey to supply the plant with nutrients. The process takes roughly ten days.
Biting is not the best term to describe the process where a Venus Flytrap captures its prey. It is more of a process of trapping and requires small prey. It could not function on another plant.
A Venus Flytrap plant uses a modified leaf. The leaf snaps shut so the prey can not escape. Then the digestive juices begin to digest the prey while it is still alive. The plant behaves like a spider.
Sunflowers are plants and do not have prey. The only plants that do are insectivorous plants such as the Venus Flytrap.
The Venus flytrap is a plant and does not have a stomach. It uses strong juices to break down its prey and absorbs the nutrients through the inside of the traps.
Both the Venus Flytrap and the Pitcher Plant are carnivorous plants that have evolved to attract, capture, and digest insects for nutrients. They share adaptations for trapping prey: the Venus Flytrap uses modified leaves that snap shut when triggered, while the Pitcher Plant employs a deep, slippery pit filled with digestive liquid to drown and digest its prey. Additionally, both plants have colorful, enticing structures to lure insects, highlighting their reliance on animal prey to supplement nutrient intake in nutrient-poor environments.
The Average Venus fly trap, If caught something, will take about 1-3 weeks. If the plant has not opened up by the last date possible, I suggest you take it to the place you bought it, and ask them for a new one. Alana<3xD
Are you referring to carnivorous plants? If not, ignore this because other kinds of plants do not digest (they make energy through photosynthesis only). If a carnivorous plant, such as the Venus flytrap, does not digest its prey well, the plant may not get the nutrients it needs and die.

Lures the prey into the mouth of the Venus Flytrap by a sweet scent that attracts them, and when the fly lands, the mouth closes in a rapid action, and digests the fly/insect.
