How do you treat grassy weeds?

I have dealt with this problem before and it can be pretty frustrating. Typically a liquid spray works well on grassy weeds. You can use products like Weed-B-Gone Max and spot treat. If you have a lot of weeds then you should probably use a granular weed and feed product that has weed killer and fertilizer. Grassy weeds include crabgrass so you should use something with crabgrass preventer if you have this problem. Scotts Halts Crabgrass preventer works well. Make sure you apply it BEFORE grabgrass starts to sprout, typically before the weather starts to warm up. Once it's growing you'll have to spot treat, which is fine for one or two weeds here and there, impossible if your yard is covered with weeds.. The problem with weeds is that you can really prevent them from taking over your lawn if you grow a thick, green, healthy lawn. If you don't have the right soil (like I did - mine was too sandy) and you don't water it frequently enough, you will create the dry conditions that weeds love. Watering is the most important - without that you'll be fighting an uphill battle. No amount of weed killer will help.

No plant is able to withstand the combined, frequent stress of incorrect heat, light, moisture, and nutrient levels resulting from cutting, removing, and smothering weeds.
