A Venus flytrap will reopen at different times depending on if the flytrap digested its catch or not. The plant has small openings available after snapping shut that allow small prey that is not worth digesting to escape. When this happens, the Venus flytrap will reopen within 12 hours. If digestion occurs, the plant will reopen about ten days later.
It takes a few days (2) for a Venus Fly Trap to digest its food.
The Venus Fly Trap always reminds me of the Little Shop of Horrors. It does seem to take a long time before the leaves of the Venus Fly Trap re-open one you feed it (up to a month) On the other hand the TickleMe Plant won't hurt a fly and the leaves re-open in minutes. The TickleMe Plant was also very easy to grow from seeds in the Classroom kit I found on line which included a book that had some fun experiments as well.
The Average Venus fly trap, If caught something, will take about 1-3 weeks. If the plant has not opened up by the last date possible, I suggest you take it to the place you bought it, and ask them for a new one. Alana<3xD

The leaf/trap will be closed. If the insect escaped, the trap will open again a few hours later.
That depends on its health. Less than a second - healthy. More than a couple of seconds - unhealthy.

In Saw II, to access the antidote inside the Venus fly trap, a key is concealed inside Xavier's eye. The character Xavier is forced to retrieve the key by digging into his eye, ultimately unlocking the venus fly trap and retrieving the antidote to save himself.
A Venus flytrap typically takes about 5-7 days to fully reopen after closing, even without capturing any prey. The plant uses energy stored in its leaves to power the trap closure and reopening process. If the trap remains closed for an extended period without capturing any food, it may eventually turn black and die.
