Cool growing orchids like a min temp of about 10oC warm orchids like a min temp of about 15oC most orchids like to be watered once per week by placing under a tap and letting the water run through... A good tip is to place the orchids pot on an upturned flor pot this allows air to circulate well Most orchids don't like bright direct sunlight... A windowsill without direct light is often ok some orchids prefer more shade than others..... During the resting period some orchids (phals in particular i think) like to kept slighty cooler dryer and hav more light...

They need water and light to grow, though they will not need light to germinate . They will need to be warm so dont put them in the freezer or fridge. They need soil to grow in but you could also use compostwhich would probably be better for things like beans but you can still use soil for anything.
