Dicotyledons, commonly referred to as dicots, are a group of flowering plants characterized by having two embryonic seed leaves, or cotyledons. They typically exhibit a broad range of morphological features, including net-veined leaves, floral parts in multiples of four or five, and a vascular system organized in a ring. Dicots include a wide variety of plants, such as roses, beans, and oak trees. They are one of the two main groups of angiosperms, the other being monocotyledons (monocots).
