Uziza Leaf also known as West African Pepper, Ashanti Pepper and False Cubeb to name a few of its other names is a climbing vine that can grow up to 20m in length.

The leaves and berries are used in cooking as a spice. The leaves which have a peppery taste are washed, chopped, shredded and added to stews about 15 mins. before the end of cooking to add heat and spice. The berries are dried and used ground like black pepper. (It is a relative of black and long pepper.)
