A non-residual, specific, target pre-emergent or post-emergent herbicide is a weed killer that will not kill junipers. The herbicide must be applied away from direct run-off draining routes and without contact with injured root or stem tissues. It tends to be a more effective, less injurious control measure to keep the area from the trunk to the drip zone free of vegetation and of weeds by setting down landscape fabric or spreading mulches.
