Trees are cut down and then cut into logs of desired lengths. The logs are trucked to a sawmill where they are cut into lumber of desired thicknesses. The lumber may be planed to make it smoother. It is then either purchased planed or unplaned from the sawmill or trucked to stores, like Lowe's and Home Depot, where it is purchased by a consumer.
