I'm asking this because we are wanting to make a light pole to put a light on.. so at night i can see what i am doing with my horses and we want one either oak or pine.. but we want to know which one would rot first..
Although all wood will rot in due time but pine and oak will last longer
The time it takes for a cut pine tree to rot can vary significantly based on environmental conditions such as moisture, temperature, and the presence of fungi or insects. Generally, it can take anywhere from a few months to several years for a pine tree to decompose fully. In dry conditions, the process may be slower, while damp, warm environments can accelerate decay. Properly managing the cut wood can also influence the rate of rot.
Red pine is one of the most used woods in the country. It is not naturally rot resistant, however, it can be protected and treated to ensure that is it can resist rot.
An oak tree requires more water and humidity than a cactus, so if the oak tree were moved to the desert where the cactus thrives, it would likely not receive enough water to survive. Conversely, the cactus would struggle in a place with higher humidity where an oak tree typically grows, as it would be prone to root rot due to excessive water.

No
Under the same conditions, a strawberry will rot much faster than an apple.
