A Diamante poem is a 7 line poem in the shape of a diamond that starts with one topic or subject and ends in the exact opposite.

There is a specific format for word choice and placement:

Line 1: subject/topic - a noun (line 7 will be the opposite of line 1)

Line 2: two adjectives that describe line 1

Line 3: three -ing verbs about line 1

Line 4: four nouns, the first two are about line 1 and the second two are about line 7

Line 5: three -ing verbs about line 7

Line 6: two adjectives that describe line 7

Line 7: the opposite of line 1 - a noun (the opposite of line 1)

An example:

Snow

Heavy, wet

Falling, smothering, distancing

Blizzard, Drift; Flower, Breeze

Shining, melting, opening

Light, free

Sun
