Acromegaly is a hormonal disorder that occurs when the pituitary gland releases too much growth hormone, leading to abnormal growth of the hands, feet, and face. Symptoms include enlarged hands and feet, protruding jaw, and other changes in appearance. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the tumor causing the excess hormone production, as well as medications and sometimes radiation therapy.
