Posture is how a person holds his/her body in respects to healthy or unhealthy alignment. A person that stands or sits with the back relatively straight, the shoulders back, and head slightly raised has "good posture" or healthy alignment of the trunk of the body and neck. Someone that hunches his/her shoulders, lets the shoulders roll inward, slouches...are all displaying "poor posture."

Stance is how a person arranges arms and legs (and head) when sitting or standing. It gives hints to emotions and comfort level. For instance, a woman sitting with her legs and arms crossed (and possibly her face turned slightly away, looking at someone out of the peripheral vision) is probably uncomfortable, agitated with the other person, and perhaps feels threatened. A person that stands with legs shoulder width apart and arms loosely arranged at the sides is in an "action" stance and most probably feels the need (rightly or wrongly) to portray a ready to respond, aggressive stance.
