What were the other books that J.R.R Tolkien wrote?
In addition to The Hobbit, Tolkien wrote the six books of The Lord of the Rings normally published in 3 volumes (Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Return of the King). His son compiled his notes and published what he wrote in a history of Middle Earth that set the stage for the Ring, The Silmarillion.Additionally, Tolkien published a translation of the English legend Beowulf, and an English translation of the German/Norse Volsunga Saga. (The Saga of the Nibelungs is same story that Richard Wagner dramatized as the operas Das Rhiengold, Die Walkure, Siegfried, and Gotterdamerung.)There are also compilations of short stories. I have a book containing the stories "Smith of Wooton Major" and "Farmer Giles of Ham". There was also a children's book called Mr. Blisspublished that was written and illustrated by Tolkien. His son Christopher has revised, extended and compiled many of Tolkien's other stories in a series of 12 books subtitled "Lost Tales of Middle Earth".
