This long poem, by Edward Taylor, called Christ's Reply's main theme is as we see in the last verse which is a summary of sorts:

Oh! fight My Field: no Colors fear:

I'll be thy Front, I'll be thy rear.

Fail not: My Battles fight.

Defy the Tempter, And his Mock.

Anchor thy heart on Me thy Rock.

I do in thee Delight.

In the Christians fight against the Devil, the Tempter, he is not to fear because Christ, the Savior and Rock, will protect them because He, Christ, delights in him, the Christian.

Thus the main theme is:

Christ's salvation from sin, death and Satan.

Fear not for Christ's loves and protects His own.

There is a battle in the Christian's life not against flesh and blood but against the all the powers of darkness and temptation.
