"Up on the Housetop" is a popular Christmas song written by Benjamin Hanby in 1864. It is one of the oldest American Christmas songs and tells the story of Santa Claus visiting the narrator's house. The lyrics describe Santa's actions such as filling stockings and eating cookies left out for him.

Well, sweetheart, technically, both "rooftop" and "housetop" refer to the top of a building. However, "rooftop" is more commonly used nowadays and has a bit more pizzazz to it. So if you want to sound hip and trendy, go with "rooftop." But hey, if you're feeling old school, "housetop" still gets the job done.
