Ricardo( Ras Cardo) Scott from trench town wrote the book and published it in 1993. "CARDO", as he is affectionately called by those who grew up with him in trench town was the one who along with Junior Braithwaite formed the- original wailing wailers group before Bob Marley came to live with them in the area. It was cardo and Junior who made it possible for BOb Marley to be safe and to get his group off the ground. Bob Marley was given the same- wailing wailers name and then Cardo and Junior took him to meet with Joe Higgs. Seeco, and Joe then took it from there. Cardo has the details of the history of those trench town days and has shared it with Roger Steffens some years ago while Joe Higgs was alive. The history is under Cardo' s copyrights-(c) A REGGAE EDUCATION- Scotts' official history of reggae, the original wailing wailers , and the trench town experience. This book and history is unique in that it also has on the back cover a rough sketch of cardo' s art trench town layout of the areas they used to roam . This is labeled- REGGAE BIRTH PLACE. Roger Steffens and others have used this book to help enhance the quality of their publications. Many of the history which Roger speaks about comes from what he has learned from Cardo and the works of what Cardo has done. He may not tell this to the world, but Cardo will truthfully share it with others. It is wise to note that Roger came from Brooklyn, New York, not from Trench Town and began to follow reggae and Bob Marley in the 1970's. He archives and collects reggae memorabilia especially on Bob Marley and others. Cardo has met with him in the past when Joe Higgs asked Cardo to do so. Writers on Reggae including- John Massouri, Chris Salewicz, Kwame Dawes, and others have all used and quoted Cardo works from his many books and writings. On pages 49-59 of his book- A reggae education, Cardo has listed some names of trench town people he grew up with. Roger and others have used this to find some of them, including -Cherry- who have verified Cardo truths as so listed. He has told the world about- Alan Skill Cole, Leghorn Coghile, and others. There is a lot which Ras cardo has not revealed about trench town days and the people. He alone has the detailed history of those days. The book- (c) A reggae education- is no longer in publication, and can only be obtained directly from Ras cardo. Ras Cardo is the living reggae creator and resource of Trench Town reggae. The world is now aware of this truth. No one else has what he has in his detailed historical collections. He is the source of reggae. The book- (c) Reggae education ISBN # 1883427002 was just an outline of the massive detailed history of reggae which Ras cardo has. There is no other. Ras cardo now writes a blog on Wordpress and Google. He is the sine qua non of trench town reggae history. He has the truth of the history which no one can fabricate, imitate, or duplicate.
