There are different types of strokes.

The most common is caused when a blood clot forms & blocks an blood vessel in the brain. This leads to a lack of oxygen reaching the brain & often some brain damage occurs. This often takes the form of paralysis, normally down one side. The danger is that once you have one you are prone to getting another.

Clots in the blood form caused by many things diet high in animal fats being one along with smoking.Basically the blood thickens & so clots form more easily.
