The internet can both enhance and challenge American democracy. It allows for greater access to information and civic engagement, but also raises concerns about misinformation, polarization, and the impact of online echo chambers on public discourse. It has the potential to promote democracy by enabling broader participation and transparency, but also requires critical evaluation of the information shared online.

Yes because polls on the internet and from the public help polititions with current bills being discussed so they can see what the public think and would prefer. Most of the time, they use polls to see what Americans want to hear from politicians so the leaders will get votes.

It has also exposed how corrupted the system has become. The health care bill is a great example. The Congress illegally voted for this bill to demand you purchase health care before the final version was written.

The Internet has exposed us to information that we never would have had access to in previous years. This is why the Government is currently trying to curtail some aspects opf the Internet and regulate it as they do utilities. Hopefully, the Supreme court has blocked these attempts until now and they will remain strong and keep doing so.

The Internet is incredible in it's ability to allow ideas and concepts to be exchanged. That is why Governments fear it and why the United States is trying to inhibit some of the information being exchanged. It should make you afraid of any Government that wishes to regulate this freedom of speech as the current Administration is trying to do.

How did persistent inequality contribute to the failure of democracy in the young Latin American nations?

Persistent inequality in Latin American nations led to a concentration of power and wealth in the hands of a few elites, undermining the principles of democracy. This created a disconnect between the ruling class and the majority of the population, leading to social unrest, corruption, and a lack of trust in democratic institutions. The failure to address these underlying inequalities contributed to the erosion of democracy in the region.
