corruption is indeed a root of poverty.many poor persons are fooled,one example is when the election approaches,the candidates comes to their place so that they can get maximun number of votes,generally the politicians come to seek help from the poor.They give them false hopes, and thus they achieve a maximum number off votes...

usually the poor are illiterate e.g in countries like india, they even don't know to which political party they should be giving votes.....
