A proper asylum seeker is a person who flees their country of origin to escape conflict or persecution, whilst an economic asylum seeker is someone who leaves their country purely to have a better quality life. Economic asylum seekers are not in any serious danger.
Dominican Republic refugees may flee to nearby countries such as the United States, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Canada. Additionally, some may seek asylum in surrounding Caribbean nations or South American countries.
People may move to another country for reasons such as better job opportunities, higher quality of life, education, family reunification, political stability, or seeking asylum from persecution or conflict in their home country.
Refugees often flee to neighboring countries that are more stable and can provide temporary shelter and support. Some refugees may also seek asylum in other countries through official channels or end up in refugee camps run by international organizations. Ultimately, the final destination for refugees depends on a variety of factors including available resources, policies, and international agreements.
One problem with the current US immigration laws are that they are too often circumvented and illegal aliens gain entry to the USA. Another problem is that legitimate applications to enter the USA and obtain a green card takes allot of time. Also, some companies who wish to hire a specific non American citizen are required to post an ad for the job in a major newspaper. This is to provide for a chance for an American to fill the position. The company receives no acceptable resumes (so they say) and proceed to have their immigration lawyer begin the process of bringing the already "picked" job seeker to the USA.
