Some feel that Democracy is morally acceptable and/or practical only when implemented in an indirect manner. This is meant to keep decisions of great importance out of the possibly ignorant masses, instead giving them over to representatives that have political understanding. It also is meant to allow government to flow smoother - to allow the people to go about their daily lives and participate in a democratic process without having to go to a voting station every day after work.

This is what the current U.S. governmental system is based on: a Constitutional Representative Democratic Republic. That is, a republic in which the people democraticallychoose leaders to represent them, who are (supposedly) bound by a constitution.

The goal of a representative democracy is to ensure that citizens are able to choose individuals to represent their interests and govern on their behalf. Representatives are elected through free and fair elections, where the will of the majority is respected while protecting the rights of minority groups. The system aims to promote accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in government decision-making.
