Stringent exclusive voting restrictions would suggest that the country has limited political participation and may have less inclusive and fair elections. This could indicate a lower level of democratization as it hinders the ability of all citizens to freely participate in the political process.
In Africa, Spanish is spoken in Equatorial Guinea, as well as in some areas of Sudan and Angola. In Asia, it is spoken in the Philippines and on Easter Island.
Yes, Brazil is a member of several trade alliances including Mercosur, which is a South American trade bloc that promotes economic cooperation between its member countries. Brazil is also part of the World Trade Organization (WTO) which governs international trade agreements.
Most of the countries in the world are not democratic & those that claim to be like the UK only have a form of democracy that suits those in power. The reason for this is that power corrupts and absolut power corrupts absolutely (i.e Stalin).
There were many countries under communist rule, especially through the 20th century. These countries are: 1) Afghanistan 2) Albania 3) Angola 4) Benin 5) Bulgaria 6) Cambodia 7) Congo 8) Czechoslovakia 9) East Germany 10) Ethiopia 11) Hungary 12) Mongolia 13) Mozambique 14) Poland 15) Romania 16) Somalia 17) South Yemen 18) USSR 19) Yugoslavia
* Foreign aid is our duty to humanity. After many years of exploitation by colonial powers, it is necessary to give back to developing nations. * Modern industrialized countries often rely on resources from Third World countries, so that foreign aid will, one day, lead to equality in foreign trade. * No nation exists in a vacuum. Ignoring overseas insecurity, poverty and starvation results in instability, genocide and war; it can breed terrorism and spawn disease outbreaks that are capable of becoming pandemic. * Aid is typically guided towards a goal, that is typically meant to improve the economic, social or military capabilities of the receiving country. If the economy of the receiving country is improved, it can typically trade more with the donor country, and thus aid becomes mutually advantageous (the Marshall Plan would give you a good idea on how this works). If the social standards of a country are improved, then stability is insured, and the donor can benefit from it (through trade, through partnerships etc.). If the military capabilities of a country are improved, the donor can expect an ally in the area. For a better account of why aid is given and how aid works, I suggest Jeffrey Sachs' "The Development Challenge" published in Foreign Affairs March/April 2005, vol 84, issue 2.
