Mexico has law and order to a degree, but the laws that they have need refinement and expansion. Law enforcement is relatively weak, and corruption within police forces and political offices is extensive. There are many individuals and organizations in Mexico who are working hard to both strengthen the rule of law, and to enact laws that more effectively deal with narcotics trafficking, corruption, and oversight or organization. Until their efforts bear fruit, illegal drug activities and corruption will continue to be a drain on the public purse, and deaths associated with the same will continue to be quite common.
